Documentary wedding photography in Biarritz and on the Basque coast

The ceremony is beautiful. But the wedding you'll want to remember is the one that happens around it: the shoes kicked off on a stone terrace, the salt in your hair, the long silence in the car when it finally sinks in.

Why Biarritz asks for a different kind of photographer

Biarritz doesn't behave like the Riviera. The light is Atlantic: silver in the morning, gold and slightly wild by evening. The weather changes its mind. Fog rolls off the Côte des Basques, surfers walk past in wetsuits, and the belle-époque villas look faintly unbothered by all of it.

A wedding photographer in Biarritz needs to work with that, not against it. I don't run you through a checklist of poses. I stay close, stay quiet, and let the day be what it's going to be. The rain is welcome. So is the windblown veil.

What documentary wedding photography means with me

  • Unposed, always. I'll give you a little direction where it helps and none where it doesn't. Most of what you'll receive is what happened when nobody was performing.

  • Attention to the in-between. Getting ready, the hands, the averted gaze, the toast that runs too long, the last dance at 2am. These are the photographs couples tell me they return to.

  • An editorial eye. I trained in graphic and brand design, and I've worked in art direction. I compose carefully and edit with restraint: honest colour, real grain, no filters.

  • One photographer, start to finish. You work with me, not a team. I'm at your wedding and at your inbox.

Many of the couples I work with choose Biarritz as a destination, bringing friends and family from different parts of the world together. In these settings, my role extends beyond documentation. I help create a rhythm for the day that allows you to stay present, to trust the process, and to experience your wedding fully rather than moving through it at speed.

From the early planning stages to the final images, my approach remains the same: thoughtful, attentive, and quietly supportive.

Questions couples ask

  • Biarritz is busiest from May to September, and dates go early. Most couples enquire 12 to 18 months ahead. If your date is closer, write to me anyway.

  • Yes. Some of my favourite days are small ones: a handful of people, a lunch, the ocean.


  • Yes. Biarritz is my base for the region, and I also photograph in Guéthary, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the Landes and San Sebastián.

  • Yes, if it serves the day. I work with a small circle of photographers whose style and presence I trust completely. We’ll talk about whether it makes sense based on your plans and guest count.

  • Then you’re probably my people.
    My job is to make space for you to feel like yourselves. No forced poses, no awkward moments. Just trust, connection, and enough room to be real. Most of my favorite images come from the in-between.

  • Absolutely — and I’m a firm believer that your images deserve to live off the screen. I offer custom-designed fine art albums, and you’ll have access to a curated print shop through your gallery.

  • A signed contract and a 30% booking fee secures your date. I only take on a limited number of weddings per year, so early booking is recommended.

  • Yes — not in a planner role, but in a photographer-meets-observant-friend kind of way. I’ll help you build a timeline that respects the light, your energy, and the moments you care about most.

  • Switzerland offers beautiful settings year-round. Spring and summer are popular for mountain and lakeside weddings, while autumn brings softer light and quieter locations. Winter weddings can be especially atmospheric in alpine regions. The best time depends on your vision and the setting you’ve chosen.
